Accessibility at Magpie Gems

We want everyone to enjoy a smooth, inclusive shopping experience. Magpie Gems is working towards WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across our website and services. If you encounter any barriers, we’ll fix them and offer a speedy alternative.

What we’ve implemented

• Consistent headings, descriptive page titles and meaningful link text.
• Visible focus states and full keyboard navigation for menus, forms and drawers.
• Alt text for meaningful images; decorative images marked as decorative.
• Sufficient colour contrast and a reduced-motion experience where supported.
• Form labels, error messages and status updates announced with aria-live.
• Clear language; prices and delivery details written in plain English.

Known limitations (and workarounds)

We’re actively improving the following. If any of these affect you, contact us and we’ll help immediately.

• Third-party widgets/apps: Some review, chat or social embeds are provided by partners and may have limited keyboard or screen-reader support. Workaround: email/WhatsApp for the same info.
• Older blog posts: A small number may have missing alt text or heading order issues. We are updating them.
• PDFs: Legacy documents may not be fully tagged. We can supply HTML or tagged PDF on request.

Ongoing testing & standards

We design and review against WCAG 2.1 AA using automated tools and manual checks (keyboard-only, screen reader, colour contrast). We also consider mobile accessibility guidelines and assistive technologies commonly used in Ireland and the EU.
